OPEN BOOK Owner Tanaka came up with the idea for a glass for shochu.
This glass was created based on the idea of creating a glass that would allow one to savor shochu more carefully and take their time than usual, and was designed to maximize the flavor of shochu.
After much trial and error, we asked Kimura Glass to produce a glass that is somewhat similar in shape to a whiskey distillation machine called a "pod still."
Narrow edges that lock in the aroma, curves that create a gentle flow, natural legs that fit on a Japanese dining table, and a rounded base that allows the ice to melt slowly - this is the perfect shape for quietly savoring shochu.
The recommended way to drink it is to pour a chilled pre-mixed sake with an alcohol content of about 10-18%.
This way of drinking allows you to enjoy the changing aroma as the temperature gradually rises.
Of course, you can also drink it on the rocks. In that case, add one or two ice cubes and enjoy the time it takes for the ice to melt.
Mixing it with soda or water will also gently change the flavor. Similarly, try not to add too much ice or liquid.
Orders usually ship within 2–3 business days.
